Thursday fashion tip – do not cut your spanxs
I was at a event this week at my good friend Sepi’s Spa in Santa Monica. I struggled to get into spanxs that were too long and had the brilliant idea to cut them.
As I am walking around the party I feel the spanxs rolling up my thighs – OMG they gave me upside down thigh muffin tops under my dress. I threw them in the trash and regrouped trying to
be steady now that I was spanxless.
The image will be forever seared into my head.
The question use to be “paper verses plastic”. The new question is exotic skins verses eco friendly, animal friendly faux?
- Better price
- Luxury without cruelty
- high fashion can be socially responsible
- feeling good and looking good has never been more on trend
I took my kids to a site on a recent trip that is probably not on the DC tour guide list. Occupy DC. The point I wanted to drive home as a mother is that one of the greatest things America allows us all is the ability to speak up, protest, have a voice, vote and make a stand.
This freedom has created great change i.e. Women’s rights, African Americans rights, Gay Rights, etc… Protests against Vietnam, all things that our democracy allows. I wanted them to see first hand the passion and the conviction people have when they believe in something because the crowd was filled with all walks of life and not just “slakers” as sometimes implied.
I believe that producing my line in this country is my way to protects those rights by keeping people (myself included) working. If we stay a culture that creates as well as consumes we add value to the world, financially as well as intellectually and spiritually.
Here are some photos I took from the day. Mostly fascinated by the intelligence, humor and some nuttiness of the posters.
I created the Yes/No line for myself and others as a subtle reminder to always be in charge of the “yes” and “no” of your life. All day long we are pushed and pulled. Staying clear that you have a choice and a voice to say “yes” and “no” in every request opens you to living a foe-filled life. It is hard to do, I equivocate all time but I find freedom in knowing that even once I have made a choice I can make another one.
Yes – to love
No – to fear

Yes – to feeling beautiful inside and out
No – to letting insecurity run your life
Yes – to fallowing your dreams
No – to the inner critic
If all else fails and sometimes it does for me, throw the bag in the air and let fate decide.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
I love Thanksgiving! Sometimes throughout the year, I get lost in my little world. My little bubble. I get agitated about silly little things whether it be the washing machine not working correctly or simply something small that I feel I should be incredibly grateful just to even have this problem. So I decided to make a list. 4 things that I am most grateful for:
1) First and foremost is my family. Of course and without a doubt. They are my backbone in life and I wouldn’t be the person I am today if I was without them… The other day someone asked me to think about when I was most happy in life. The one day when I knew life couldn’t be any better. The day I was most ‘thankful’ for… Easy question are you kidding me! I’ve been lucky enough to have 4 of those. The day each of my 4 children were born are easily my most proud, thankful, happiest day of my life. I’ve had 4 Best day evers! That’s what I’m most thankful for!
2) I’m grateful for growing older. I know, Shocker! But if you thinking about it, I know this may come off a bit morbid but not everyone gets this opportunity. Aging with health and grace is a beautiful thing!
3) I’m grateful I’ve stumbled in life and been able to pick myself up and learn lessons. It happens to everyone. The biggest risk in life is not taking any!
4) I’m thankful for everyone involved at making my business successful. Over the years we’ve had our fair share of employees. I’m grateful for everyone. From operations to accounting, to suppliers to manufacturing. I hope everyone knows how grateful I am for this team i’ve compiled and hope everyone had as much of a wonderful Thanksgiving as I am and comes back from there vacation well rested and ready to work work work! Just kidding… Sort of…
What are some things you are grateful for?
